Camp Wood to Ingram TX. 4 major climbs in the first 40 miles of the 80-mile ride today. Each climb was 2-3 miles with gradients of 8-9 percent, some places perhaps more. Tough morning but in the afternoon, we ran into many smaller but still tough hills, to give us a total of about 5700 ft of total climbing for the day. At mile 55, I was on empty but finished fine with the help of those around me. We rode on chip and seal roads most of the day. They tend to vibrate you to death. Every now and then we would hit smooth roads and it felt so good. The scenery today reminded me a little of the blue ridge parkway back home especially the last 40 miles. We saw at least 100 if not more motorcycles riding on the roads. It must be a road that is popular for weekend rides. Dip any one?
