We started at the beach today in Ocean Beach, CA. Then we headed east into the mountains and climbed most of the day. 5500 feet of climbing. We finished in a town called Pine Valley, CA. It has mostly conifer trees and the hotel looks like a big cabin. It was probably built in the 1960s. Only one place to eat but it was very good. When we arrived, it was 33 degrees, and we were unprepared and cold. There is snow on the ground from some prior snow last week. It should get warmer as we progress into AZ.
